Bones Season 2
Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
On scars
Scars are our body's method of reminding us of the past.
They remind us where we've been and what we've overcome, they teach us lessons about what to avoid in the future.
That's what we like to think, but that's not the way it is, is it?
Somethings you just have to learn over and over and over again.

Just finished watching… the myth

I've just finished watching the Myth recently, and thought I would express my thoughts on it. For those who are unfamiliar with the series, this series is based on the movie version of the same name (also one of my favorite movies of all time). As a result, I followed the series faithfully until the end. As a brief synopsis (very brief indeed), I've included the one from dramawiki (since I'm too lazy to type my own):
A 2000 year-old artifact transported Yi Xiao Chuan and Gao Yao from the year 2010 to the Qin dynasty. They traveled the ancient kingdom trying to find their way back to the modern day, or at least die trying. Back in 2010, their family, Yi Da Chuan and Gao Lan, were piecing together clues from ancient artifacts that could help bring them back while avoiding attacks from mysterious masked men.
After reading that brief synopsis, I hope you're not dissuaded yet, because there is so much more to the series. The entire synopsis basically occurs in the first episode, and the series was indeed quite spectacular.
This 50 episode series does diverge from the movie alot, although the main theme is still the same. Since I would highly recommend all to watch this (out of my dedication to the movie), I would not divulge too much into the series and spoil it. As a whole, the acting in the series was quite superb, as were the costumes. The plot was exceptional as well, although it was supposedly a remake of the movie, this series seems refreshingly new and unique. The series, very much like the movie was able to play with the audience emotions, and I definitely felt pangs of sadness in several episodes. Additionally, the references to the ancient Chinese myths were also a pleasant twist. However, there were also several vital weaknesses to the series. Firstly, the fighting sequence was a huge disappointment. For a film produced from Jackie Chan, I definitely felt letdown. In comparison to the movie version, the action sequence in the series not only paled in comparison, but looked cheap and rushed (can't think of any other terms to describe it). Another major problem in the series was the ending. Again, I would go into too much details, but I certainly didn't buy how the ending played out. Althought the character developments were some characters were well done and detailed, I felt that the relationship between the main character and the princess could have gone into deeper details. In hindsight, I still can't remember when exactly they fell in love. However, in faireness I should also add that the development of characters such as Gao Yao was very well done, to such an extent that I understand why his character turned evil. Lastly, the tv series utilized the main theme from the movie version, and also incorporated some of its own songs. The soundtrack from the movie version was definitely a must hear, and was one of the strengths of the movie, but I just wasn't much of a fan of the newer songs implemented in the tv show.
Overall, the tv show in my opinion was still pretty good, although I'm a heavily biased "The myth" fan. As such I would definitely recommend those who haven't seen the movie, or the series to do so, cause it's definitely worth watching. If it helps, if I gave the series a rating out of 10, I would give it an 8/10.
